Description
The Anthropology Club or BOAS (Bridging Our Anthropology Students) is a small student run organization here at Drew who's goal is to broaden the narrow understanding of Anthropology and break down pre-existing stereotypes. Members believe an essential component of a liberal arts education is the encouraged exploration of other cultures, as well as our own, through anthropological theories, views and perspectives. BOAS is dedicated to fostering a better undertanding of anthropological theories, enhancing the appreciation of global perspectives, breaking stereotypes, and raising cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity. This organization strives to serve Drew by hosting educational and cultural programs open to the entire community. BOAS will look to promote cross-cultural understandings through educational programs, lectures and events throughout the year.
Why someone might join
If you're interested in either learning about anthropology or wish to further the knowledge of those around you, then I strongly suggest that you join the BOAS. It's a well-known organization around campus set out to enhance your knowledge of anthropology; to open your mind, instead of closing it, to teach you to search for similarities, rather than differences and to promote global understanding, rather than ignorance. If you're tired of hearing ignorant people go on and on about their ideas on cross-cultural awareness, or are tired of yourself being ignorant then join the BOAS. Interested in joining or have any questions, join the BOAS Facebook group at the supplied website; or if you wish to be included on the mailing list, please email jglickma@drew.edu.
