When it comes to Global Warming the two candidates actualy agree on something. Both the candidates say climate change is a real, man-made problem that needs action. Also, both candidates support a plan known as "cap and trade" which is a pulliting cutting scheme. McCain's approach to the environmental plan is much like his fellow Republican, George Bush. His main idea to fix to environment is to switch to nuclear power. His plan calls for building 45 new nuclear power plants in the United States by 2030. That is an increase by 40% from the current 104 nuclear power plant reactors. Obama also supports nuclear power but supports it in a diffrent way. He says that we need to figure out a way to deal with the radioactive waste. Obama stongly opposes the current disposal plan which consists of just burying it in a deep mountain in Nevada.

Obama puts a plethora of more emphasis than McCain dealing with renewable energy. Obama has a plan in which asks for $150 billion to promote research in fuel-efficient cars, renewable energy and "clean coal" technology. McCain's plan about renewable energy is a little diffrent than Obama's. McCain has opposed goverment initatives saying green house gas emissions are well established. McCain has also voted agaisnt getting renewable energy for electric utlities.

Transportation plays a signficant role in our climate change. The transportation issues are broken down into three ares; the fuels we use, the vehicles we drive and the amount we drive. This past year both candidates have had much to say about fuel issues and what they plan to do about this crisis that is confronting the Unites States. McCain has proposed a gas tax holiday to reduce fuel prices. Also, McCain has a current stratedgy that has been put into place which deals with drilling off shore to lower the fuel prices. To deal with fuel Obama has proposed a National Low-Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS), which will lower carbon in transportation by 10 percent by 2020. Both Candidates has very opposing views on reducing vehicle fuel economy. Obama talks about putting eletric cars on the road that can up to 150 miles to one gallon. On the other hand McCain opposes higher fuel fuel efficiency standards for vehicles.

It is very important to know about the environment and the climate change that is ahead of us. Each candidate has a plan to solve global warming and the crisis but they vary very diffrently from each other.Obama supports renewable energy greatly and has a well developed plan for his environmental stance on things. He talks about biofuels, solar power and wind power but also says we need sort term problems by finding more fuel. McCain does support the use of biofuels and renewable energy but has not yet produced a plan to be pursued in the future.

Even though the presidental candidates have a plan for the environment the vice presidental candidates have there own. Joe Biden was a co-sponser to raise vehicle fuel efficiency in vechiles by approximately 4 percent each year. He also opposes artic oil drilling and he also demands that people and corporations start taking responsibility for pollution in the environment.
