Drew University allows students to continue to play and perform their musical instruments.  Many schools have conservatories, where the ensembles are limited to only music majors, but Drew opens their music groups for everyone.  This gives pupils not only the opportunity to keep their music proficiency, but also to meet others with a common interest.  An audition is not required to participate in this ensemble.  Woodwinds, brass, and percussion make up the wind ensemble.  The group meets Tuesdays and Thursday at 7:15 pm to 9 pm.  One of the best parts about joining the wind ensemble is where it gets to perform.  The amazing acoustics in Dorothy Young Center’s concert hall makes it a beautiful place to present the wind ensemble.-Callie Corro

Why someone might join

Like many other people, I was excited to hear that Drew had a wind ensemble open for everyone to participate.  Playing an instrument for several years and being able to continue with it in an ensemble opens many opportunities.  Many people just enjoy music and playing their instrument.  This group allows students to join without limiting themselves from other interests.  It also gives students the chance to meet others with a similar interest. - Callie Corro
